Dinos and Clan capture team titles

February 19, 2005 - The University of Calgary Dinos and the Simon Fraser University Clan captured team titles at the Canada West wrestling championships hosted by the University of Calgary on Friday and Saturday, February 18-19.

The Dinos won a tight three-way battle over Simon Fraser and University of Regina Cougars to capture the women's title. The win for Calgary was their first Conference title since 2002 having lost the past two years to Simon Fraser. The Clan is the defending CIS National champions. Calgary finished the competition with 39 points, three more than the Clan who had 36 and four more than the Cougars who had 35. Alberta finished fourth with 26 points and Saskatchewan was fifth with 23 points.


The Clan won a tight three-way in the men's action to repeat as Conference Champions. Simon Fraser finished with 45 points three ahead of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies who had 42 while Alberta Golden Bears were third one point back with 41 points. The University of Regina Cougars and the University of Calgary Dinos tied for fourth each with 33 points.
