CI Participated in Brock "Wellness Conference"
The Confucius Institute at Brock University participated in the Brock "Wellness Conference" on June 19, 2013. It was the second time that CI joined this significant event.
CI hosted two workshops, "Tai Chi" and "the Art and Way of Tea". All were welcomed by the Brock faculties.
There were around 30 people joined the "Tai Chi" workshop, which was the earlies workshop in "Wellness Conference". The instructors, Minfen Ye and Kefu Zhu showcased Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi Sword, presented their philosophy, and illustrated some skills pervaded in Tai Chi martial arts.
Instructors at last organized a practice for the participants to try Tai Chi Tui Shou with four movents: holding, gathering, pushing and pressing.
The participants were excited. One of the participants wanted to learn Tai Chi Quan when she was still young, and appreciated this opportunity to try Tai Chi Quan by herself.
Generally Speaking, this workshop was very successful.
In the second workshop titled "Equanimity and Once-in-a-Lifetime", two instructors started with the story of a Zen Master which signified the very beginning of the Way of Tea in China, and brought the philosophy of the dual dance of equanimity and Once-in-a-lifetime into the process in making tea.
There were 20 people participated in this workshop. They tasted three kinds of tea and were amazed by the special and fresh flavor of Chinese Tea.
