The Centre for Digital Humanities is an academic and research unit as well as a source of information and educational technology service and support to the Faculty of Humanities. The Interactive Arts and Science Program is a new academic program consisting of a BA honours, BA pass, combined major and minor offered through the Centre for Digital Humanities. This innovative program enables students to study and create in the exciting and rapidly expanding interdisciplinary field of digital media, interactivity and games. IASC students learn about interactive media, fiction, games, simulations and immersive environments through independent inquiry, problem solving and portfolio building. They explore the interplay of this evolving media and our understanding of human identity and values. They build a framework of knowledge around examination of technoculture, narrative, gameplay, computing and media design and production. The Centre for Digital Humanities Support Unit endeavours to maintain a balance between proactive and reactive research and development for the promotion and implementation of Educational Technology in the Humanities. Support for students and faculty is provided for approximately 4800 class and computer lab hours per year. In addition to this classroom support, the Centre provides services in e-learning, web development, scanning and conversion to digital formats.
