BIOGRAPHY

Margaret Avison has recently published her sixth collection of poetry, Concrete and Wild Carrot. Born in Galt, Ontario in 1918, Avison spent her childhood in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and returned to Ontario for her highschool and university years. She attended the University of Toronto for her undergraduate and graduate degrees, and later returned to lecture at the University. Two of her poetry collections, Winter Sun and No Time, have won the Governor General's Award. Avison is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
