World Youth Day Rio 2013

This is a very different trip organized by the Diocese of St. Catherine's. It is a social justice based trip, with a focus on Catholic faith and spirituality, although it is open for everybody. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to another country while having a deep spiritual encounter with the Pope and other Catholic people from around the world.

What is World Youth Day

World Youth Day (WYD) is a global testimony of living and renewing faith. The event illustrates how the face of Christ is shown in each young person. At WYD young people come together in a meeting of love, dreams, and Christ.

Logistics of the Trip

Participants will spend one week in Lima, Peru hepling to construct a preschool in a Shanty town, before heading off to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A fews days will be spent between Petropolis and Aparecida, visiting historical sights and  participating in WYD activites. During your time in Rio, you will participate in a Pilgrimage to "Christ the Redeemer", while participating in the inaugural mass and the welcoming of the Holy Father. A night will be spent participating in a Vigil with the Pope, followed by more WYD activities, a final WYD mass, and a free day in Rio, before your return to Canada.
