Young Drunk Punk: Written & Performed by Bruce McCulloch with special guest Sharron Matthews

When:
January 17, 2015 - 7:30pm - 10:30pm

MATURE LANGUAGE AND CONTENT Comedian, writer, director and legendary ‘Kid in the Hall’ Bruce McCulloch combines standup, live music and autobiographical insights in his new solo show. McCulloch chronicles his journey from his wild ‘young punk’ days in 1980’s Alberta, to flannel plaid days and futon nights in 1990’s Toronto, to becoming a ‘pajama-clad dad’ in Hollywood. Directed by Blake Brooker and featuring live music by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet guitarist/frontman Brian Connelly. Aptly described as the love child of Jack Black and Bette Midler, Sharron Matthews will open the night with her irreverent wit and solid gold mashups by artists such as Beyonce, Guns ‘N Roses, Radiohead, Queen and more in her unique comedic concert. “Over the course of a wild, unpolished 60 minutes, McCulloch waxed surrealistically and edgily (and sometimes in song) with bits of sage lucidity mixed with charismatic whimsy.” – The Globe and Mail “McCulloch was solid. He alternated between telling stories and tossing about absurdisms…he pulled no punches…McCulloch was in probably the finest form of his career.” – SpinningPlatters.com
