2005 Debbie Sevenpifer
Debbie Sevenpifer graduated from Brock University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Administration in co-op accounting. She went on to receive her CA designation placing 17th against 1600 candidates in the UFE exam.
Debbie began her career with Misener Shipping where she worked as its chief financial officer for one and a half years. In June of 1990 she moved to the Welland County General Hospital as the Manager of Accounting and Budgets. She moved up to VP Finance and Administration and then to VP Corporate Services which encompassed everything at the hospital that was non-clinical. Debbie obtained her designation as a Canadian Health Executive in 1994.
Debbie's career with the Niagara Health System began in May 2000 when she was appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer. In March of 2003 Debbie was appointed to the position of President and CEO of the Niagara Health System following a six month term as Interim President and CEO. In her capacity as Interim CEO, she led the eight hospital organization during a difficult transition period. Since then, she has effectively and diplomatically steered the Niagara Health System through a number of very complex and difficult issues which have arisen from the amalgamation of the eight founding hospital sites and from the ever-changing needs, medical technological advancement and increasing costs of healthcare.
Under Debbie's leadership the Niagara Region has entered into a new era in healthcare.
The list of enhancements that have taken place in healthcare for the people of Niagara under Debbie's leadership are numerous and include increased access to care, improved facilities and the introduction of state-of-the-art technology.
Debbie's commitment to the power of teamwork has resulted in the Niagara Health System receiving the Niagara Training and Adjustment Board Training Excellence Award for two consecutive years. This award is provided to employers in Niagara who are leading by example in supporting and promoting employee training.
Debbie has maintained her ties with Brock throughout the years. She returned to Brock briefly after graduation to teach in the Accounting Department and has more recently come back to campus to speak with our students during one of our Make the connection events. She was a featured graduate in the 25th Anniversary book for the Accounting Co-op program.
