Brock students assess age-friendliness of downtown St. Catharines

Healthy communities encompass all age groups. Working together on an intergenerational research study, 45 Brock students were recently matched with 20 Niagara seniors to better understand what makes a community “age-friendly.” The study, “Through Their Eyes,” examined the age-friendliness of the neighbourhood surrounding Niagara Region’s Seniors Residence at 14 Centre Street in downtown St. Catharines.

Flu season is not over yet, wash your hands

Medical staff at Brock University has observed several students reporting stomach flu symptoms on campus. As a precaution, all members of the Brock community are reminded that regular hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of any germs. Regular hand cleaning with either soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer will reduce your chances of getting sick.

A Brock prof’s book examining how the Ontario government dealt with the regulation of alcohol and public drinking in the province in the post-prohibition ‘20s and ‘30s has received national accolades from the Canadian Historical Association (CHA).
