Three questions with… Jamie Fleming

Jamie Fleming

Jamie Fleming

Jamie Fleming has been at Brock for 29 years. They have all been spent as the director of Residences, although the job title and description have changed a couple of times. He has lived in his home in downtown St. Catharines for 25 years. He is married to Liz, a former Brock employee and editor of Niagara Life magazine. His older son, Joel, is about to graduate from Harvard Law School. His younger son, Jay, is a fourth-year Business Communications student at Brock and fourth-year player on the varsity basketball team.

What do you like about your job?

The people! The staff within the Department of Residences are a fantastic team. We constantly review and evaluate what we do, and continually strive to make the residence experience as positive as possible. The students keep things interesting, entertaining, challenging and rewarding – all at once. I like the ongoing opportunities to educate and have an impact on the students who live in our residences.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy being active: skiing and squash in the winter; rowing in the spring, summer and fall. Also, I enjoy sitting on the dock at my cottage reading a good book.

Where did you go on your last vacation?

Liz and I drove to Cambridge, Mass. to visit our son, Joel. May I recommend a great little pub just off Harvard Square called Shays?
