Update on the evacuation of the Mackenzie Chown complex

Update: 4 p.m.

The escorts scheduled to take people into Mackenzie Chown E and B blocks have been delayed until the all-clear is provided for the entire Mackenzie Chown complex. Check back here for more information.


Update: 2:50 p.m.

Earlier today, there was a fire in an electrical room on the fourth floor of B block in the Mackenzie Chown complex. The fire has been extinguished.

At this time, all of the Mackenzie Chown complex remains closed.

B block and E block of the Mackenzie Chown complex will remain closed until 12 noon tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 1). Escorts to re-enter B and E blocks will be available to gather personal belongings ONLY. Please meet at the SMART Start desk in A block starting at 4 p.m. today to gain access to B and E blocks.

The all-clear to re-enter all other blocks in the Mackenzie Chown complex is expected soon.
