Donna Vukmanic is being remembered by her Chemistry colleagues as a dedicated mentor with a bright smile and a commitment to her students.

As a senior lab demonstrator at Brock for 28 years, she was known for her dedication to teaching. She died on Nov. 1 at the age of 58.

Even though Vukmanic was in charge of labs for five different courses, “she was available to her students from morning to night,” said Heather Gordon, associate professor and chair of the department.

“She was a super person who was extremely dedicated to teaching.”

Vukmanic held an honours BSc in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo and a masters degree from Brock.

She is survived by Nick, her husband of more than 33 years, and her son Mark, as well as a sister and brother, nieces and nephews and an extended family in Croatia.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.

The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin St., St. Catharines. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Welland.

Memorial donations benefit the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
