OSSTF to set Aug. 10 strike deadline

The University has been advised that OSSTF District 35, which represents support staff at Brock, will set a strike deadline of Monday Aug. 10.

The parties have been bargaining for a new agreement since March, and the University remains committed to continued talks with the Union to reach a renewal collective agreement. The previous collective agreement expired on April 30.

The parties met with a provincially appointed conciliation officer on July 14, after which the Union requested what is known as a “no-board report”, the first step toward a legal strike or lockout.

The University has been advised that the “no-board report” has been issued, and the parties are in a legal strike/lockout position as of 12:01 am on Aug. 7. The Union has advised the University that they will set a strike deadline for Aug. 10.

For continued updates on this negotiation, and for more information about the collective bargaining process, please see the Brock University Outlook website.
