Brock University, McMaster University and the Niagara Health System are working together to continuously improve outcomes in the healthcare system through quality improvement projects. The results of this unique partnership will be on display at the Health Quality Symposium in Niagara Falls next week.

The third annual Health Quality Symposium, being held Thursday, April 30 at Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, will highlight quality improvement projects and outcomes resulting from the Interprofessional Education for Quality Improvement Program, better known as I-EQUIP.

The I-EQUIP projects function as an extension of the classroom, providing an opportunity for students from Brock and McMaster’s School of Medicine – Niagara campus, as well as leaders and front-line staff from the Niagara Health System to work together on a variety of quality initiatives that improve patient care.

These initiatives range from improving logistical concerns such as reducing wait times and unnecessary pediatric admissions, to improving patient care through a reduction of isolation days or surgical site infections.

The symposium will feature 12 presentation sessions along with two keynote addresses on health related research and quality improvement through practice.
