Greg Plata (BSM '08) will give the Terry O'Malley lecture on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. Free tickets are still available for the event.

Don’t forget to save yourself a seat for Wednesday’s Terry O’Malley Lecture on Advertising and Marketing.

The 14th annual homage to Canada’s marketing greats features Greg Plata (BSM ’08), the first Brock alumnus to give the keynote presentation.

Plata, 28, made a name in marketing when he created WestJet’s touching ‘Christmas Miracle’ campaign in 2013. It all started with a video featuring 250 passengers on two WestJet flights being asked what they wanted for Christmas. Meanwhile, WestJet volunteers hurriedly worked in secret to fulfill those wishes and have the gifts waiting for the passengers when they arrived at their destination.

The video went viral, clocking 36 million views, 1,600 news stories and an 11,000% uptick in YouTube subscribers for the corporation.
Plata’s lecture, “Taking flight with WestJet: How A Christmas Miracle(s) Helped Break The Marketing Mold” happens at 7:30 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre.

Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance by calling the Centre for the Arts Box Office, 905-688-5550 x3257.
