Brock’s messiest tradition is back.

The annual grape stomp, which is a fixture during Homecoming, will be held Friday, Sept. 19. It’s a new date, as the event is typically held at the end of September.

All Brock faculty, staff and students are invited to take part in the grape stomp at 12:30 p.m. in Jubilee Court. Teams of up to five students can sign up online using the grape stomp registration form. Waiver forms also need to be completed and submitted in order to participate.

“The grape stomp is such a large event here at Brock because it is a unique event to our University that students feel they need to take part in as part of the Brock experience,” said grape stomp co-ordinator Colleen McGuire. “It is a spirit-driven event that all students can take part in, and is often coined as the best event of the year. The idea of friendly competition spurs motivation and causes students to look forward to the event each year.”

The event begins at 12 noon and will also feature local vendors at the Farmers’ Market, free corn on the cob, pop and hot dogs, a barbecue and carnival games. There will also be a variety of contests, such as best costume, best spirit, etc.

Canned food will also be collected for Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold.
