The finalists for the Blueprint Pitch have been selected.

This year, four student ventures will pitch to six judges and the student crowd at Isaac’s Pub for the chance to win up to $10,000 in start-up funds.

Medland Research, Food in a Box, Niagara Screening and Golden Rose Enterprises will present their ideas to judges Don Cyr (Goodman School of Business Dean), Sam Baio (West49 founder), Angelo Nitsopoulos (COO Heart of Niagara Hotels), Larry Maxwell (TD Canada Trust investment advisor), Nick DePietro (Natacor president) and Shannon Passero (head designer and co-founder of Pure and Co.).

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

“There are few jobs out there and lots of grads competing for them,” Brock Mentorship Plus Coordinator Jackie Crawford said. “Entrepreneurship has to be seen as a viable career option. Brock students have great ideas and are fortunate to have resources at their disposal. The Blueprint program was designed to help students to develop their ideas into plans and then move towards implementation.”

Blueprint, which is run through Career Services in conjunction with several departments at Brock and partners in Niagara, is a program designed to give student entrepreneurs a chance to develop and grow their ideas and businesses.

Blueprint is designed for undergraduate students, graduate students and recent alumni (within two years).

If a team wishes to submit an application, at least 50 per cent of its members must be Brock students or recent graduates.

The ‘pitchers’ are competing for start-up money, mentoring and resources. The judges will decide the distribution of their start-up money on the day - which could amount to upwards of $10,000.
