They’ll be doing it by presenting proposals on an intended project involving the use of geospatial data on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon, part of GIS Day. The event is hosted by the Maps, Data and GIS Library, and the Department of Geography.

The scholarship is provided by Esri Canada, the world’s leading GIS software provider, and is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines.

This is the third year in a row that Brock has been selected to participate in the Esri Canada $1,000-GIS student scholarship program, a nod to the University’s strong multidisciplinary focus on GIS Day.

Last year, physical geography student Brandon Van Huizen won the scholarship and has since completed a study called Soil Erosion Analysis of Farms in the Niagara Region that he will present on GIS Day, which also features a poster display. pizza lunch, an introduction to ArcGIS and other workshops. GIS Day is part of Geography Awareness Week.

Students interested in applying can find more information online. Project outlines (250 words) are due Nov. 15.
