Reading Week renos planned for library

The James A. Gibson Library and Matheson Learning Commons are getting a bit of a makeover this month to help improve user services.

The circulation services desk will be modified to incorporate both the help and circulation desks and to address some accessibility issues.

The counter along the west windows overlooking the Guernsey Marketplace will also be extended to add nine more seats, giving more students a study space with a view.

And the help desk will be removed for the creation of a modest exhibit space that will feature examples of Brock’s strategic priorities, values, and accomplishments.

The renovations will be done during Fall Reading Week, Oct. 15 to 20.

Library staff and contractors will work to minimize any disruption to library users during the renovations. The help desk and circulation services, including short-term loan items such as reserve readings, laptops and other equipment will move temporarily into ST 211 starting Thursday, Oct. 10 and return to their new digs by Monday, Oct. 21.
