UPDATE: Police investigate suspicious package on campus

The police investigation into the suspicious package continues.

Denis Morris High School has its graduation ceremony scheduled for tonight in the Walker Complex, which is not affected by this afternoon’s precautionary building and road closures.

Denis Morris officials are waiting for more information from the investigation before making a decision about the status of tonight’s ceremony.

Police continue to investigate a suspicious package found in the Alumni-Student Centre earlier Wednesday this afternoon.

Both the Alumni-Student Centre and Plaza Building have been evacuated. All other buildings on campus have not been evacuated and operations in those buildings continue.

Both the Alumni-Student Centre and Plaza Building remain closed.

Interior campus roads near the investigation remain closed and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area and the front of the Schmon Tower.

All transit users are asked to make their way to the Rosalind Bauer day care centre near Parking Lot D via Thistle Complex and Welch Hall.

Police and emergency services were called to the Brock campus around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after a suspicious package was reported in the Alumni-Student Centre.

As a precaution, officials closed nearby interior campus roads to traffic and evacuated the Alumni-Student Centre and Plaza Building.

The campus is not being evacuated at the moment.

Transit users are being routed through Thistle Complex to Welch Hall to Parking Lot D in order to catch buses in front of the day care centre. Pedestrians are asked to avoid the investigation area and the front of the Schmon Tower.
