Brock elevator services labour action update (June 5)

On May 1, unionized elevator mechanics in Ontario walked off the job due to labour action.

As a result of this action, elevator repair response times a Brock have been delayed. The University community’s patience is greatly appreciated during this disruption, which may result in longer than normal service and repair times.

The following elevators or lifts are out of service as of today, Wednesday, June 5:

  • Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex west end passenger and freight elevator is out of service, the passenger elevator at the east end of the building is available as an alternate
  • Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex CBF elevator servicing the CBF and loading dock only is out of service, no alternate is available at this time
  • South Block accessible chair lift servicing the corridor behind auditorium classrooms is out of service, no alternate is available at this time

Facilities Management will continue to send emails and post notices about elevator outages around campus to their website.

Campus Security is also trained to respond to any stranded persons or elevator emergencies by calling x3200 or x4300. In the event of an entrapment, call Campus Security on the emergency phone located inside the elevator.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Facilities Management customer service at x3717 or facilitiesmanagement@brocku.ca
