Exams started Wednesday, marking two weeks of stress and the end of a term.

The stress. The crowds. The pressure of getting it done.

And we’re not talking about your daily Tim Hortons run.

No, it’s exam season and today, those tests with a scary name are starting, marking the end of another term at Brock.

Here are a few things to keep in mind to help make exam season as stress-free as possible.

Need a quiet place to study? The library has your back. During exams, library hours have been extended to enable students to max out their cramming sessions. Until Dec. 14, the library and Learning Commons will be open daily until 2 a.m.

Students can also get an earlier start hitting the books on weekends with the library opening at 9 a.m.

Some areas of the library are designated silent or quiet study zones. During exams, students are asked to be mindful of where they choose to study and keep conversation to a minimum.

Those sounds of silence will also be heard in the hallways of buildings on campus. When walking through the corridors, keep in mind that there may be students in nearby lecture halls and classrooms striving for an A and needing peace and quiet to achieve it while writing their exams.

While the bus schedule may be committed to memory, the exam schedule may not be as easy to remember. All departments’ schedules are available online, including rules about handheld devices and computers, coats and books brought into an exam.

Good news is that after the final multiple choice answer has been selected or the clincher in an essay answer has been written, there’s no need to worry about when the bus will come.

St. Catharines Transit will maintain its regular routes and schedule during exams.

Brock University Students’ Union is also offering rides home to students outside of scheduled transit times until Dec. 17.

Prefer to blow off some steam instead? The Zone fitness centre, gym 2 and playing courts will be open longer - until 8 p.m. - on Saturday, Dec. 8 and 15.
