Toss Across Uganda takes to field Sept. 22

toss-across-ugandaA team of Brock students are throwing their energy into improving the lives of children in Uganda.

Five students are organizing Toss Across Uganda, a fundraiser for the Right to Play organization, in which participants will spend an afternoon throwing a ball 500 kilometres during a marathon game of catch. That’s roughly the distance across the African country of Uganda.

The organizers, students Aaron Murray, Melissa Austin, Anne-Marie Hay, Sam Brandow and Kurt Singer, hope to raise $2,000 by the time they take to George Taylor Field at Community Park on Saturday, Sept. 22.

They’re encouraging others to participate in the event and request a minimum of $25 in pledges from each participant.

The Toss Across Uganda runs from noon until 4 p.m. or whenever participants have covered 500 kilometres.
