Tentative deal reached with ESL instructors

Brock University and CUPE 4207-Unit 3, the union representing about 40 ESL instructors, have reached a tentative agreement on all outstanding issues, pending successful development of language capturing said agreement.

The agreement was reached late Tuesday, Feb. 14, shortly before a midnight strike deadline.

Negotiators arrived at the deal with the help of a provincially-appointed mediator. Details will not be released until the tentative agreement has been ratified by the parties.

The deal came a day before another set of negotiations is set to resume.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, negotiators from Brock and IATSE Local 461 will meet with a mediator to pursue a collective agreement for about 16 stage support staff at the Centre for the Arts and the School of Fine and Performing Arts.
