A post-doctoral researcher who received a fellowship through the prestigious Canada-Mexico Awards has come to Brock to do his research.

Sergio Alatorre is working with renowned chemist and Brock professor Tomas Hudlicky. Alatorre is completing research in the synthesis of several compounds with pharmaceutical application. He chose Brock so he could work with Hudlicky’s research team.

Alatorre’s research award is offered through Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. He began the process of applying for the award in October 2010. From there, Mexican authorities selected 17 candidates to interview, narrowing the list to 10. Of those 10, five received the award.

Alatorre is participating in the Visiting International Scholar program through Brock International. He will work at Brock until July 2012.
