Library takes a lead in promoting GIS on campus

Whether creating Niagara’s wine sup-appellations, researching cancer incidence, locating our alumni, or making environmental history come alive through land-use simulations, GIS (Geographical Information Systems) offers a suite of tools for analyzing and visualizing information in many areas of study.

Although ArcGIS has been used extensively in teaching and research at Brock for many years, access to this software has been limited. In response to increasing interest by faculty, students, and administrative departments campus-wide, a site license was recently purchased by the James A. Gibson Library. This provides the Brock community with unlimited access to an exciting collection of software, tools, and training materials.
