If you are interested in a cross-cultural experience and feel that you are able to guide a homestay participant through the acculturation process, consider becoming a homestay family for Brock’s English as a Second Language program. Students attend classes five days a week and receive five hours of English instruction per day. There are various terms taught throughout the year, including the five-week Explore Program from July 5 until Aug. 5, during which French-speaking Canadian students, who are 18 or older, are given the unique opportunity to practice English while experiencing the world renowned beauty of Niagara. The Explore program is internationally recognized and sponsored by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada and Heritage Canada. Homestay is offered to Explore Students as a way to immerse themselves in the English language and discover more about Niagara from a local perspective. The guidance and support offered by homestay families is essential to the learning process. If you live in St. Catharines or Thorold and you have room in your home and your heart, please contact us to find out more about becoming a homestay family for Brock.
