My name is Robert Wein, I graduated from Brock in 1993, with my BBA. I lived on-campus all 4 years, 3 in DeCew and my 4th in the Village.
In 2009 I was in a bike vs. car accident in Kanata. This is the story: http://www.ottawacitizen.com/life/hard-road/After+crash/2587362/story.html.
As a result of this accident, I have an acquired brain injury.
June was named by Ottawa's mayor as "Brain Injury Awareness" month. To raise awareness, and funds, I am hosting the 2nd annual walk called Conquer Acquired Brain Injury, or CABI. On June 15, upwards of 100+ local (Ottawa) & 50+ global participants will join me on the CABI walk. All proceeds will be donated to "Pathways To Independence" to build a local resource center and residence for 5 individuals that have an extreme case, and aren't able to safely live on their own. For more information on the Ottawa branch of Pathways, follow this link http://www.ottawa.pathwaysind.com/.
If you would like to see the success of last year’s event, click here: http://www.myalbum.ca/Album=6V8PJDTV
I wanted to share the story, and hopefully have the upcoming walk mentioned in a future edition.
