Support grants for Brock researchers and open access

The Library Open Access Publishing Fund, an educational opportunity to increase Brock University engagement in open access publishing, is now open for 2015-16.

Researchers may apply for grants from the $10,000 fund to cover article processing charges (APCs) levied by some open access journals. Full information, eligibility criteria and application forms are available here.

In addition to the fund, the Library is pleased to support open access memberships which allow Brock researchers to publish in open access journals for a reduced fee – or for free.

The Library memberships support researchers publishing in:

Open Library of the Humanities – no APCs for authors; publishing funded by library subsidies

• Hindawi Publishing Corporation – no charges for any articles submitted by Brock authors

• Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute – 10% discount on APCs

• SAGE Choice Open Access model— 40% discount on APCs

• NRC Research Press — reduced fees of $1,500 per article

Open Access refers to scholarly resources made freely available to anyone via the Internet. Open Access research is associated with higher citation counts and is mandated by many research funders, including Canada’s Tri-Agencies.
