Cukier joins minister’s symposium on Canadian economy

Brock University’s president-designate Wendy Cukier will be a panelist Jan. 13 when Canadian Finance Minister Bill Morneau convenes a symposium called Growing Canada’s Economy.

The event takes place at University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, where leaders from various sectors will discuss how the federal government can pursue economic growth that is robust and inclusive. The event will be webcast between 11 am and 3 pm on the website of Canada’s Public Policy Forum.

Morneau will exchange views with panels on three priority policy issues: climate change, infrastructure and innovation. Cukier will join Harley Finkelstein (Chief Platform Officer of Spotify) and John Ruffolo (CEO of OMERS Ventures) on a panel examining the topic ‘Sparking innovation in Canada’.

Last month it was announced that Cukier, a Brock alumna, will become the University’s next President after Jack Lightstone completes his second term this summer. Cukier is currently Vice President of Research and Innovation at Ryerson University.
