Grad students have plenty to do during Reading Week

There’s no way that Brock graduate students will be at a loss for things to do come Reading Week.

Starting with a Thanksgiving dinner on Oct. 9, graduate students are invited to participate in Re-Charge Week, hosted by the Vitae Essential Skills partners.

“Think of it as not quite alternative reading week but more of a staycation,” says Karin Perry, Graduate Coordinator, Development and Training, Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Through to Oct. 16, Re-Charge professional development workshops are scheduled. Topics include time management, resume writing, literature review and networking. There’s also a free photo session planned for students to have profile portraits taken for their LinkedIn accounts.

As well, the week includes a mix of fun activities — stress relievers — that include fitness and aquafit classes, pickup soccer games, and, for the crochet-minded, a chance to make scarves and hats for local charities.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is a co-ordinating partner of the Vitae Essential Skills Partners, a collaborative group of campus-based student service professionals providing programming, resources, services to support the academic, personal, social and professional success of Brock’s approximately 1,700 graduate students.

Here’s a list of Re-charge events with more details posted on the Vitae website. Some events require registration.
