The Brock Leaders Citizenship Society celebrated another successful year, including the accomplishments of its graduating members, at its annual year-end formal last week.

The formal, held at the Stonemill Ballroom, also lauded the achievements of the group as a whole, which had another successful year hosting volunteer and charity events benefiting Brock and Niagara. Each BLCS graduate was highlighted, with stories of their favourite BLCS memories and their biggest accomplishments during their time in the group. Lead the Change, a video highlighting created by executive member Daniel Mariella, premiered at the event.

Alyssa Beradocco received the Award of Merit for completing more than 800 volunteer hours with organizations both on and off campus. Aynsley Maves won the Spirit of the BLCS award for her continued enthusiasm and support of group events and initiatives. Kristina Wamboldt got the Lasting Impressions award after six years of work with the society. The Society Advancement award was presented to Breaking Barriers, an empathy-building initiative led by Meaghan Walker and Adam Zoccoli.

W. Aaron House, founder and former manager of the BLCS, was given an honorary membership. House is the current Director of Post-Secondary for Pathways to Education Canada. In his address to the audience, he thanked the many people who stood behind him and believed in his vision of the BLCS.

Brian Hutchings, the University’s Vice-President of Finance and Administration; Kim Meade Vice-Provost and Associate Vice President Student Services; staff; and community partners attended the event.
