Brock to power down for Earth Hour

World Time

The campus will be noticeably darker for an hour on Saturday.

The University will participate in Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. to shed light on the importance of energy conservation and environmental sustainability.

All lights in parking lots T, U and V will be turned off for the hour and where possible, other areas of campus will have reduced lighting to support Brock’s efforts.
Decisions about lighting levels are made with public safety in mind.

Staff, faculty and students are invited to help out by switching off all unnecessary lighting within their areas during this time, ensuring that it is safe to do so and that no candles are used as a substitute.

The Residence Life Staff’s Environment Committee will mark the occasion with a campfire at the Alphie’s fire pit.

Earth Hour started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 162 countries and territories worldwide.
