Brock Alumni shades show off our SWAG

A number of Brock Alumni Network events – some traditional, some with exciting new things to do, but all of them fun and well attended – occurred in May and June.

Brock Legal Professionals: To kick off May, a group of more than 25 Brock graduates, who now work in the Toronto area as legal professionals, were hosted by James MacLellan at the law offices of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Renowned Canadian lawyer, Edward Greenspan (LLD ’12), joined our alumni for a wine tasting with Chateau des Charmes sommelier Glen Siegel (BA ’74) and to network over appetizers and drinks.

Burlington Pub Triathlon: For a change of pace to the more traditional pub night, the Burlington Brock Alumni Network held it first annual Pub Triathlon at the Boston Manor. Teams of two grads enjoyed darts, pool and ping-pong (and of course some food and beverages). The winners were determined via the always dramatic tiebreaker, as Jerry Lin (BA ’99) and Daniel Bick (BBA ’08) took home the hardware; these alumni look forward to taking another shot at the title next year!

Toronto Pub Night & Blue Jays game: The Toronto Brock Alumni Network reconvened at Labatt House on the Harbourfront for its annual Pub Night – the largest pub night of any Brock Alumni Network. Brock’s finest joined together to pair food with some of Labatt’s best brews, along with some laughs and good times. Toronto alumni also gathered to watch the Blue Jays defeat the Baltimore Orioles on June 22. Alumni helped to cheer the Blue Jays on as they extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 4-2 victory.

Grads Learn to Dragon Boat: In preparation for the St. Catharines Dragon Boat Festival, the Niagara Brock Alumni Network held a number of events. The group gathered for a Learn-to-Paddle event on Jordan Harbour and really got into the swing of things with the help of our fearless leader, Pat O’Connor (BA ’11). This was followed by a practice event and finally race day, both on the Henley Rowing Course in Port Dalhousie. The team didn’t bring home any hardware, but improved its time in every 500-metre heat and had a great time doing it.

Goodman School of Business Travel to Edmonton and Calgary. This past May, the Goodman School of Business traveled to Alberta to host Alumni receptions in Edmonton and Calgary. Brock University graduates from all Faculties were invited to receptions in both cities to network and hear from Dean Don Cyr about the Goodman School of Business. The events saw graduates from the 70’s to just last year in attendance.   After both events,  a number of graduates met to discuss the establishment of Alumni Networks to continue to bring Brock grads together. Dean Cyr also promised to make a visit from the Goodman School of Business an annual event.

We have a number of alumni events during the summer, so be sure to check our events page regularly for updates.
