Wellness committee newsletter encourages active lunch hours

Looking for ideas for how to spend your lunch hour? The Brock Wellness Committee has a suggestion.

In the latest issue of its newsletter, the committee interviews Brendan Barrett, an academic advisor in the Office of the Registrar, who spends his lunch hours playing squash.

Squash, Barrett says, makes him feel more energized in the afternoons.

Other newsletter highlights include a look at social wellness, eight ways that social activity can boost your health and a recipe for fresh tomato basil pasta.

The committee is having a Brock Wellness Fair on Oct. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Pond Inlet to introduce its newly created interest groups. To date, the interest groups include:

  • A walking group that explores Brock’s natural surroundings
  • A book club
  • A group interested in nutritional information encouraging weight loss
  • A knitting group (the Needle Knockers)
  • Movie reviewers
  • Quilting, smocking, tatting and fine embroidery

If you have an interest group you’d like to introduce to the Brock community at the Wellness Fair, contact brockwellness@brocku.ca
