Update on search for Dean, Faculty of Education

The advisory committee is pleased to announce the names of the four short-listed candidates for the position of Dean, Faculty of Education.

  • Sal Badali, associate dean, Faculty of Education, University of Regina;
  • Fiona Blaikie, Interim Director of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Lakehead University;
  • Cheryl Craig, head of Elementary Education and co-ordinator of Teaching and Teacher Education, College of Education, University of Houston; and
  • Shirley Steinberg, Director, The Paulo and Nina Freire International Project for Critical Pedagogy, Department of Integrated Studies in Education, McGill University.

The candidates have been invited to Brock to meet with the advisory committee, senior administration, and faculty, staff and students generally. Each candidate will be making a public presentation to the Brock community on the following dates:

  • Sal Badali on Tuesday, April 6 at 11 a.m. in the Pond Inlet;
  • Fiona Blaikie on Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in Thistle 325;
  • Cheryl Craig on Friday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the Pond Inlet; and
  • Shirley Steinberg on Wednesday, April 7 at 3 p.m. in Thistle 244.

The CVs of the applicants are available for review through the Office of the VP Academic or the Office of the Dean of Education, and are also on reserve in the University Library. Members of the Brock community are encouraged to attend each of the presentations and are invited to make written submissions with respect to the suitability of each candidate for the position of Dean, Faculty of Education. Anonymous submissions will not be accepted. Submissions will be confidential to the advisory committee and will be destroyed on completion of the committee’s work.
