Teachers learn about new technologies at Hamilton showcase

Teachers from school boards across the Golden Horseshoe gathered at Brock’s Hamilton campus Friday to learn about new technologies to use in teaching.

The second annual Teaching and Technology: A Collaborative Educational Showcase (ACES) was held Jan. 29. It exposed the teachers to new classroom technologies and innovative resources that will help them teach students in novel and exciting ways.

About 300 in-service teachers and current students in the Department of Teacher Education expanded their ability to use technology to improve learning outcomes.

Sponsors showcased their products in hands-on sessions that included presentations by vendors and practicing teachers. Vendors included Strategic Transitions, Apple Canada, Studica, SMART, Turning Technologies, BrainPop and FrontRow. The interactive lunch featured roundtable discussions.

Showcases like ACES are designed to advance the way technology is used in the classroom to help children learn. Proceeds from the day went to purchasing more technological resources for the Hamilton campus.
