Indigenous co-curricular program renamed Ode’min Wigwam
June 30
Representatives from 22 local community organizations gathered at Brock on June 30 to learn more about working with student volunteers. Hosted by the Student Life and Success (SLS) team, Connecting Our Communities welcomed 35 participants for a morning of presentations on promoting volunteer opportunities, overcoming barriers to student volunteerism and creating student volunteer engagement strategies. Community organizations interested in working with Brock student volunteers can contact Community Experience Coordinator Jenna Moorhead at [email protected] or visit the SLS website for more information.

We acknowledge the land on which Brock University was built is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee (ho-din-anish-shonee) and Anishinaabe (A-nish-shin-aaabee) people, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today, this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit, and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
