IUT d'Orsay Université Paris Sud - June 25th, 2012

 On Monday June 25th, IUT d'Orsay Université Paris Sud representatives Jane Mignot, International Relations Officer and Lydie Amann, Professor for the Chemistry Department visited Brock University. Mignot and Amann met with several staff and faculty at Brock including the Director of Brock International Sheila Young, Scholar Services & Programs Assistant for Brock International Liv Park, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry Dr. Costa Metallinos, and senior Chemistry student researchers in the Department of Chemistry. Visiting delegates also met with the Manager of International Services & Programs Abroad Christina Bosilo.

 
The main purpose of the visit was to evaluate their IUT d’Orsay students Kevin Perola and Guillaume Groseille, who have been formally participating here in the Brock University Mentorship (UM) program undertaking research internships supervised by Brock University faculty members in the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Metallinos has been host and mentor to several students from IUT d’Orsay since 2007. IUT d’Orsay delegate Mignot and Brock colleagues discussed possible formalization of an agreement to continue, promote and further develop collaboration and exchange between our institutions. Thanks to senior student researchers, delegates were also taken on a personal tour of the new Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex as well as the Chemistry labs located in MacKenzie-Chown to view the facilities and ongoing research work by their visiting students.
