Waypoints for Experiential Orientation Programs:
Building Institutional Capacity
Friday, March 27th (3:00-7:00) &
Saturday, March 28th (8:00-5:00), 2015
(Co-hosted by Brock University and McMaster University)
The 2nd Canadian Outdoor Orientation Program Symposium (COOPS) is a forum for administrators, program directors, researchers, student leaders, program alumni and anyone interested in outdoor and experiential orientation programs to discuss approaches for initiating and sustaining programs in high schools, colleges and universities. This year's theme, "Building Institutional Capacity," is intended to highlight strategies and practices that outdoor and experiential orientation programs can implement to take advantage of broader institutional resources and to become integrated into the organization's overall orientation program.
COOPS 2015 also features workshops specifically designed for student leaders, students thinking about becoming a leader, and professionals involved in the development of peer-facilitated experiential learning programs.
COOPS was originally designed to provide information on getting an outdoor or experiential orientation program started, best practices, basic information for program operation and administration, and research specific to the Canadian context. These threads continue to play a dominant role in the COOPS agenda.
Whether you are thinking about starting a new program or already have one up and running, there is something here for you!
