Bacchus at Brock, an international / interdisciplinary conference on wine, was held at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
June 7, 8, & 9 , 2007
This was the third bi-annual Bacchus conference. The first conference was in 2002 at Brock University and was hosted by the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) and the Faculty of Business.
Our partner university in France, the Burgundy School of Business (ESC Dijon) held the second conference in Beaune, Burgundy in November 2005. This year, Bacchus returned to Canada --- hence Bacchus at Brock! In 2007, Brock University had the privilege to host the conference with the UNESCO label as part of its partnership with the international network of the UNESCO Chair Vin et Culture/Wine and Culture.
In keeping with the Bacchus tradition, the conference seeked to cross boundaries of specialization to allow wine scientists, experts, professionals and wine enthusiasts to meet and exchange ideas related to their different fields of research or practice. There were three key themes to the conference: science, culture and business along with a strong focus on educational tastings.
