Research:
My research program involves the following:
- developing strategies to optimize wound healing in a private practice setting through nutrition and vitamin supplementation during the pre-operative and post-operative periods.
- studying the molecular mechanisms of bone-regeneration involved in de novo bone formation in areas of periodontal bone loss which is regenerated using targeted biomimetic approaches such as amelogenin (Emdogain).
- studying a clinical population presenting with periodontal disease and associate disease severity with molecular markers such as IL-1 polymorphisms as well as targeted microbial detection.
- investigating immunosenescence and factors associated with ossteoimmunity as putative mechanisms for peri-implant osteitis (implant complications) and aggressive periodontal disease.
I am accepting graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in a cosupervisory role.
