Research
I am working towards understanding the biomechanical and physiological significance of the surface electromyographic (sEMG) signal. To this end, surface and indwelling recordings are combined with mathematical modelling and simulation methodologies. The ultimate goal is to develop non-invasive sEMG techniques for the assessment of neuromuscular disorders. I have recently initiated a new line of research on psychological factors involved in muscle strength assessment in field and laboratory environments. How people "feel" while participating as research subjects affects their performance. Sample publications are listed below.
Other publications are easily found on PubMed. These include the following active areas of interest: measurement issues in evoked potentials and the neural control of muscular strength development for rehabilitation.
Thank you for coming to visit.
