I am working towards understanding the biomechanical and physiological significance of the surface electromyographic (sEMG) signal. To this end, surface and indwelling recordings are combined with mathematical modelling and simulation methodologies. The ultimate goal is to develop non-invasive sEMG techniques for the assessment of neuromuscular disorders. 

My publications are easily searched on PubMed or Google Scholar using key-words such as “muscle” or “EMG”.  The search will also show active areas of interest in: measurement issues in sEMG, the neural control of muscular strength, and psychological factors involved in strength assessment.
