Research

My research interests are in the area of health administration across the health care system. In general I am interested in enhancing the safety and quality of health care services. This focus has extended my research in to studying team effectiveness, organizational culture and change, and reporting and learning from advserve events and near misses.

I am currently working on projects examining the safety culture in health care organizations. The goal of these projects is to identify and measure the dimensions of safety culture which can then lead to identifying problematic areas that can be targeted with quality improvement efforts. Other current projects consist of developing e-learning modules for hospital staff to learn about patient safety principles and understanding the challenges to quality and safety in a complex continuing care setting.

As my research evolves, I will be engaging in projects that examine team effectieness and patient outcomes in acute and primary care. As well as projects aimed at understanding the educational needs of publich health professionals.
