Scope of the Research Network (ReN)
The ReN on Writing Teacher Response provides a network for researchers who investigate nature and impact of Writing Teacher Response. This ReN is also source of information for anybody interested in how teachers respond to student texts in either first (L1) or subsequent (L2) language writing and how students deal with Writing Teacher Response.
The aim of the ReN on Writing Teacher Response is to promote research, collaboration, and the development and exchange of knowledge to improve understanding of the nature and impact of writing teachers’ response to student generated texts. Writing Teacher Response aims to include theoretical, pedagogical and practical issues from a teaching as well as a learning perspective. Although teacher response to student writing is widely considered an essential component of the writing process, what effect teacher response has on subsequent student writing, short-term or long-term, and language development is poorly understood. The initial focus of the ReN is on writing in English as an L2 but contributions from researchers working with other languages are welcome.
