Gathering Place for Good Minds (DeCew R212)

The mission of Aboriginal Student Services (AbSS) is to provide academic and cultural support for Aboriginal students. With that in mind, the Gathering Place for Good Minds was designed and opened in 2010. The Gathering Place consists of several rooms that house student resources including a computer lab, student lounges, and a community space for larger gatherings.

In the Gathering Place for Good Minds, students find a home-like environment with Aboriginal art, comfortable couches, and staff members who connect with them on a personal level. Among these staff members is the Elder-In-Residence, Carol Jacobs. Carol is often found in DeCew R213 talking with students about their courses or listening to their stories of home. Sandra Wong and Sean Hoogterp are there as well, sometimes offering advice on academic or career planning, sometimes just sharing a laugh.

The resources available in the Gathering Place for Good Minds are extensive, and the spirit surrounding these resources is ever greater. Stop by anytime!
