Aboriginal Education Council
The Aboriginal* Education Council was created in order to serve the educational needs of the Aboriginal Students at Brock University, in particular culturally appropriate programs, hereby affirming Aboriginal Sovereignty as First Nations Peoples. The AEC is comprised of representatives from the student body, academic and services departments within Brock University and the local Aboriginal Community.
The intention of this partnership between Brock University and the Aboriginal Community is to effectively serve the needs of the Aboriginal Community. This is accomplished by identifying and articulating priorities for programs and services intended to enhance the successful recruitment, admission, retention and graduation of Aboriginal students. This Council will actively pursue the development of and accessibility to programs for Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal peoples, consonant with the context and role of Brock University within the Ontario University sector.
*On this website, Aboriginal will mean the same as and include status, non-status, First Nations, Native, Metis, Inuit and indigenous people.
