Musical Insights from Hamilton Music Workshop

On Saturday, January 17, 2009, fifty-seven teacher candidates from the St.Catharines and Hamilton campuses participated in two engaging elementary music workshops. The event was hosted by clinicians Jane Wamsley, Halton District School Board, and Carolyn Neumann, Waterloo Regional District School Board. All teacher candidates had the opportunity to participate in a fun-filled morning, engaging in many music-making activities that can be integrated into teaching practice. The session encouraged participants to reflect upon music education pedagogy and the importance of leading children toward successful music experiences in the classroom. The workshop session, held on the Hamilton Campus, was facilitated by Dr. Shelley Griffin, Helen Warkentin, and Russ Weil.
