FRENCH (Core and Immersion)
The Durham District School Board is a large and growing public board located immediately east of Metropolitan
Toronto. We have 106 elementary and 20 secondary schools with a student population in excess of 70,000.
In each of the past several years, we have hired a large number of new teachers. We anticipate requiring
significant numbers again for the 2009-2010 school year.
Although positions will be available in ALL subject areas and at ALL grade levels, we have a particular need
for persons qualified in French. We are pleased to provide an opportunity for you to be considered for
permanent positions at an early date.
If you will be qualified in French by September, 2009, or if you have strong capability in French and plan to
pursue FSL qualifications, please submit by email or fax a covering letter, resume, any practice teaching reports
and the names and numbers of at least two professional references to:
Durham District School Board
by Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 4 p.m.
Interviews will be conducted at the Hamilton Campus on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
You will be advised of time and place. SOME candidates may be offered teaching positions to begin in
September 2009 as a result of these interviews. Others may be placed on a PREFERRED list for consideration
against future vacancies.
NOTE: Applicants must successfully complete a written French competency test. This will be administered on
the day of your interview.
