Teaching with technology is essential when teaching students of this decade. Technology can enhance and stimulate student’s learning. In addition, I also find it will keep students engaged in learning, using animation, power point or an Edublog to teach students certain concepts I find will be far more effective then using the standard techniques that our generation grew up with handouts. Yes handouts can be effective but providing a variety of tools to teach students is even better.
I will adapt many different teaching models when I have my own classroom. For instance, centre activities which I think are essential students can rotate at different stations and work collaboratively with one another. As well as Problem-Based Learning children are given real life problem to solve which I believe is fundamental, therefore, if students are placed in a similar situation or a situation where problem solving is needed they will know what to do.
I now know how to create an Edublog which I found extremely useful. It is a great way to communicate not only with students but also their parents. Animated games can not only be entertaining to students but also educational. In addition, it helps students learn new concepts or provides introductions to a new lesson or can be used to practice a new concept that was learned previously. The great part is all areas of the curriculum can be covered through animated games.
In addition, I had a brief introduction to Smartboard. After fiddling with the tool I think all schools should have one in each of their classrooms. There are so many things that can be done on it more than I would have ever thought. What a great innovated tool to engage students with.
